You'll never have to fumble with different pairs of glasses and no more bi-focal! Air Optix® has a multi-focal lens, specifically designed to work in unison with your eyes to provide clear vision with an uninterrupted range of focus, near and far.

Ortho - K
Sleep your way to clear vision. Do you need vision correction? But aren't sure about wearing contacts, or glasses, and LASIK is out of the question? Ortho-K maybe your answer. What is Retinal Screening?

Optomap Retinal Exam

Dr. Bevil uses the Optomap technology as a valuable tool to examine your health and to help him discern treatment options for his patients. The Optomap is used to test for retinal tears, diabetes, high cholesterol, as well as high blood pressure, headaches, and even cancer. As a bonus, dilating your pupils is a thing of the past with this comprehensive eye exam device. The Optomap’s laser scan shows Dr. Bevil an ultra–wide view of the health of your retina (the very back of the eye). Your Optomap exam is quick and painless, and the test results are instantaneous. Dr. Bevil will be able to examine and go over your results immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions: (Provided by Optomap)

Why is a retinal exam so important?

Some of the first signs of diseases such as stroke, diabetes and even some cancers can be seen in your retina, often before you have other symptoms. An optomap makes it easier for Dr. Bevil to deter man these signs.

Is an optomap safe for children?

Yes. In fact, many vision problems begin in early childhood, so it's important for children to receive quality routine eye care.

What is an optomap?

The optomap is a panoramic digital image of the retina produced by Optos scanning laser technology. It is the only technology that can show a wide 82% view of your retina at one time.

Does it hurt?

No. It is completely comfortable and the scan takes less than a second. You don't have to walk out with those cool stunning shades.

How will optomap benefit me?

The ultra-widefield optomap will help Dr. Bevil detect problems more quickly and easily.  Unlike traditional retinal exams, the optomap image can be saved for future comparisons.

How often should I have an optomap?

This is a decision that should be made by your doctor.  However, it is generally recommended that you have an optomap each time you have an eye exam.

Are there side effects?

Optomap images are created by non-invasive, low-intensity scanning lasers. No adverse health effects have been reported in over 50 million sessions.

SPORT VISION

What is Sports Vision?
Sports vision is a therapy consisting of eye training exercises to improve athletic performance. Therapy for directed towards sports vision allows athletes of all levels to excel at their specific sport.

What does sports vision therapy involve?
There are several aspects to this type of eye therapy and testing. These include depth perception, visual acuity, eye pursuits, eye tracking, and convergence/divergence training. Dr. Bevil will work with you to enhance hand–eye coordination and balance so sportsmen and sportswomen can perform at their highest level.

Depth Perception
Depth perception needs both eyes to be balanced and focused together. We will test your depth perception with computer-generated shapes while you wear special colored glasses.

Visual Acuity
Since visual acuity is necessary for athletes, we maximize yours at better than the standard 20⁄20. In most cases, athletes can use precision contact lenses to allow for natural vision in field and contact sports.

Eye Pursuits
In some sports, eye pursuits need to be both fast and large. For example, a quarterback needs to quickly scan the entire football field. In other cases, however, eye pursuits should be slow and steady, which will help the golfer read the golf greens, help in putting, and assist the rifleman in shooting.

Hand–Eye Coordination
When you need to be sure your bat, golf club, or racket hits the ball, or your stick connects with the puck, hand–eye coordination is essential. The best option for this type of therapy is observation in the sports field so Dr. Bevil can assess you accurately. Additionally, our in–house sports vision clinic is equipped with a kinetic acuity to assist Dr. Bevil in your therapy. The Marsden ball swings from the ceiling, and the letters are called out to monitor your concentration and focus. Your customized therapy is designed to help you reach your maximum hand–eye coordination potential.

Balance
The final component to maximize performance is the addition of balance training to your sports vision therapy routine.

Visualization
Sports vision training involves the entire body, especially visualization, which is an element of psychology. Visualization helps the sportsman or sportswoman attain their maximum potential and improves their confidence. When you can mentally see yourself accomplishing a task, it increases your rate of success.
